The Cabazon Dinosaurs are located of the I-10 just a bit west of Palm Springs and before you get into the Los Angeles Metropolitan area.
In the “old days” they weren’t the bright pink and green you see here, They were more naturally colored. But, then again, how do we really know what color dinosaurs were? I don’t think there is any real evidence about their skin color is there? Somebody feel free to inform me here!
The two dinosaurs pictured here are open and visible to the public for free. There is a part of the exhibit here that requires an admission fee. I did not visit that particular area.

The dinosaurs here at Cabazon are huge. If you look closely at the pink apatosaurus above you can see my friend, included as a size reference under the neck of the dinosaur. She is also pictured here on the leg and foot. She is 6 feet tall, so that gives a little perspective as to the size of these things.
The dinosaurs were originally constructed by the Claude Bell, owner of the adjacent “Wheel Inn” (closed in 2013 and bulldozed in 2016). “Dinny” is a 150 foot long apatosauras, reportedly the largest dinosur sculpture in the United States. the builder supposedly scavenged rebar and other building materials used in contruction of the nearby freeway (I-10)
The Cabazon dinosaurs appeared on television and in movies in the 1980s, appearing in everything from Coke commercials to MTV videos to the film Pee Wee’s Big Adventure.
